A RETIRED scenes of crime officer has put Darlington into focus with his long-term love affair with photography.

Campbell Sheppard began capturing and developing black and white images as an 11-year-old in the late 1960s and before making it his profession by working as a wedding photographer and joining Northumbria Police for 28 years.

Mr Sheppard moved to Darlington in his retirement and has since chosen to photograph his new home for an upcoming exhibition due to be hosted in the Town Hall titled, “As the sun sets in Darlington”.

He said: “I chose the urban, night-time environment of Darlington as I wanted to illustrate the rich, abstract colours and hues that come to life when the sun goes down.

“Using long shutter speeds and lenses with different focal lengths, I have tried to create a series of atmospheric images of Darlington with as little post production processing as possible.”

The photographic exhibition focusing on the town will run from August 29 until October 20 in the Town Hall.
