FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of a trapped goat this morning.
The crew was called to a field just behind New Road in Crook at about 10.15am and found the frightened animal with its head stuck in wire railings.
Firefighters used special cutting equipment to remove the wires from around the goat's neck.
Pictures of the successful rescue were posted on the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) Facebook page with the caption: “No kidding! Durham White Watch earlier today rescuing a goat with its head trapped in the railings #notjustfires.”
A CDDFRS spokesperson confirmed the goat was unharmed.
