CELEBRATIONS to mark a community centre’s 30th anniversary will get underway next week.

Tow Law Community Association has organised an action-packed three-day festival in and around the County Durham town’s community centre to mark the milestone.

From Friday, August 18, to Sunday, August 20, residents and visitors can enjoy everything from climbing walls to ceilidh dancing.

The fun begins on the Friday afternoon with a children’s roller disco at the community centre in Dans Castle. The under 11s session will be held from 2pm to 3.30pm, while a session for older children will run from 4pm to 6pm. Both cost £3.

And the following evening, from 7.30pm to 10pm, the centre will host a ceilidh with tickets priced at £6 for adults and £3 for children. They are available to buy at the community centre and Cathy’s shop in Tow Law High Street. Guests are welcome to bring their own refreshments.

A family fun day on Millennium Green will round off the festivities on Sunday from 1pm to 8pm. Highlights will include a marquee full of stalls, climbing wall, bouncy castle, an outdoor performance of Hansel and Gretel, live music and a taekwondo demonstration.

Jenny Flynn, association secretary, said it was wonderful to celebrate the 30th anniversary and encouraged residents to join in the fun.
