NATURE lovers are being invited to look around a riverside garden that includes a wildlife meadow and a waterfall as part of a national scheme.

The grounds of 45 Blackwell, in Darlington, will be opened to visitors by owners, Cath and Peter Proud, to view woodland and the River Tees, which borders the large plot.

Refreshments and plants will be on sale during the open day on Sunday, August 13, between 1pm and 5pm, as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGA) which opens private gardens to the public.

An NGA spokesman said: “Number 45 Blackwell rises from the River Tees up to a garden with many mature trees, wildlife meadow, pond with waterfall. The Tees can be viewed from a rustic hut set in woodland high above the river.”

Admission is £4.
