CHARITY walkers who aimed to buy a life changing piece of equipment for a little girl have raised enough money to help other children as well.
Almost 50 people took part in a sponsored walk around Spennymoor, in County Durham, today, in aid of eight-month-old Ellie Sales.
Ellie has plagiocephaly and brachycephaly - also known as flat head syndrome - which means her head is misshapen.
Parents Michael Sales and Julie Horner, from the town, need to find £1,450 so Ellie can keep a corrective helmet as long as she needs it.
After hearing Ellie's story from her uncle, Stephen Horner, staff and regulars at The Voltigeur pub, in Spennymoor, launched a charity campaign.
Today, 47 people walked around Spennymoor, Coundon, Middlestone village, Kirk Merrington and Middlestone Moor collecting donations.
The walkers then took part in a charity night with karaoke and competitions at the pub to boost funds.
The sponsorship money is still rolling in but organiser, Chris Hill, said: "I'm sure we'll have gone past the target so Ellie's family would like to help other children, especially those with the same condition."
