A 28-YEAR-old driver has reported to police that he was threatened his van by a man who then punched and smashed the vehicle’s window.

A black BMW estate stopped next to a van on Borough Road, in Middlesbrough, before the driver got out and began to threaten the 28-year-old in the van, which was stationary on the road.

The suspect then punched the window of the van on the driver’s side, which caused it to smash at around 5.40pm on Monday, August 7.

The BMW driver is alleged to have got back into his vehicle and driven off onto dead-end Laurel Street before reversing back onto Borough Road and driving in the direction of Marton Road.

The van driver was unhurt by the smashed glass.

Cleveland Police are now urging other drivers in the area who witnessed the incident to review their dashcam footage and forward it to investigating officers.

The suspect and driver of the BMW estate – believed to be an older model – is described as an Asian male in his 30s.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Anyone with dashcam footage or anyone with information regarding the person responsible is asked to contact PC Chris Lindsey on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.”
