MOTORISTS are reminded of the closure of a rural crossing for 12-hours on Wednesday.
The temporary Deerness Bridge, between Ushaw Moor and New Brancepeth, which has been in place since June last year, will be out of use for traffic from 7am to 7pm.
It will allow for preparatory work ahead of it being dismantled, before a permanent replacement is built.
While the new bridge is constructed, the temporary bridge will be moved upstream to create a new crossing point.
Durham County Council needs to carry out works to the temporary bridge before it can be moved.
Temporary diversions through Broom Park and New Brancepeth will be in operation during the day-long closure.
Another short road closure will be required in the autumn to allow the temporary bridge to be relocated.
