A CHILD has avoided injury after a driver swerved his car to avoid hitting a little girl, witnesses have said.

The stricken car was left with its rear wheels in the air after the incident at around 4.45pm on Monday afternoon.

Residents in the Homerton Road area of Middlesbrough stated that the driver – who is believed to be unhurt following the crash – had ended up in the ditch after avoiding a child crossing the road.

Cleveland Police attended the scene at Homerton Road’s junction with Hoskins Way and Pallister Park.
