A170 closed in Helmsley following serious accident
A CAR overturned and the driver taken to hospital after a crash on the A170 in Helmsley this morning.
The A-road was closed both ways while the vehicle was recovered from Bridge Street.
Traffic was described as being "very slow" due to the accident near Ryegate.
Fire, ambulances and police were all on scene a the incident, on the bridge heading out of Helmsley towards Sproxton.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "There was a single vehicle collision on Bridge Street, Helmsley, at about 10.30am.
"One person was taken to hospital. There are not believed to be any serious injuries."
He said the vehicle had overturned and had to be recovered.
