UP to 300 part-time jobs are being created at Her Majesty’s Passport Office.
The extra Passport Examiner staff are being recruited at the agency's seven centres across the country, with an as yet undetermined number to be based at the North-East office in Durham.
In Durham, new staff will be taken on for a weekday evening shift.
The £20,000-a-year posts will see new recruits carry out identity checks on applications and make decisions on passport entitlement.
The deadline for applications is August 15.
