MODEL planes, trains and automobiles will be on display at the return of this year’s Model Mania event at Locomotion, The National Railway Museum at Shildon.

The event takes place this Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6, and will feature a variety of models from clubs and individuals across the region.

Exhibitors for this year’s event include Newton Aycliffe Model Flying Club, Durham Model Truck Club, Roker Park Model Boat Club and Shildon Model Railway Club.

Darlington Scale Modellers will also exhibit, along with the North Eastern Meccano Society, the Film and TV Model Club, the Coniscliffe Carving Club, the OO Live Steam Club, IPMS Langley Moor and IPMS Cleveland.

Visitors will be able to watch demonstrations and browse the wide range of modelling trade stands along with stands selling railway items, books and more.

The miniature steam train will also be in action, with rides provided by South Durham Model Engineers and the historic model Orion, which belongs to the Stephenson Locomotive Society, will also be in steam at the event.

Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is open from 10am to 5pm daily. Parking and admission are free of charge.
