DARTS players completed a 24-hour marathon to raise more than £3,000 for their local hospice.

A team of nine players from Brandon Sports Club played through the night, relying on midnight pizzas and bacon sandwiches at 6am to keep them going.

Graham Adkins, from Brandon, helped organise the fundraiser for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham.

He said: “We all live locally and know of the amazing services that St Cuthbert’s Hospice provides in our community.

“We really enjoyed the challenge and we’re amazed to raise such a huge amount of money.

“Thank you to Brandon Sports Club for hosting the event and all local businesses that donated raffle prizes.

“It’s been great fun all for such a great cause.”

Jade McArdle, from St Cuthbert’s Hospice said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the players for undertaking this challenge to raise much needed funds for St Cuthbert’s.

“To raise more than £3,000 for the hospice is just brilliant”.

She added: “This money will help patients during what is a challenging and difficult time for them, and make sure they and their families receive all the support they need.”
