A RADIO station that was saved from going off on air is changing its name, while its new parent company is creating 25 jobs.
Star Radio North East will be rebranding as Rathergood Radio from August.
The station will become Rathergood Radio on FM transmitters covering Darlington, Durham and Richmond.
‘Rathergood Xtra’ will also launch on North Yorkshire DAB in the coming weeks, while a number of additional alternate audio channels are being added, covering a wide range of modern music.
In April, the View TV Group bought Star North East after it had been announced it was to close.
It has now invested £250,000 in a re-launch and re-brand. Rathergood Radio is moving to a new £1m facility in Durham and its audio and video production company, Rathergood Productions, plans to offer a ‘bespoke hub’ in the North-East, creating 25 jobs.
The firm said it was considering keeping on the current Star Radio base in Woodlands Road, Darlington, although most staff would move to Durham.
