POLICE are urging residents to be aware of a possible heating oil scam, after a suspected bogus caller visited a home in North Yorkshire.
Officers say a resident received a call from someone claiming to be from a heating company. They asked questions about the owner’s heating system and then went on to ask where the fuel tank was located.
The resident did not pass on the details, but police are urging people to be aware, if they receive a similar call, that it could be a scam.
