CYCLING heaven came to Stockton as the town played host to a festival of all things two-wheeled.
The Stockton Cycling Festival, organised by the borough council, began on Friday night with town centre racing featuring some of the country's top riders along with local stars battling it out on a circuit that started and finished on the town's historic High Street.
It was the turn of the Stockton Sportive on Saturday, with cycling enthusiasts young and old tackling one of four routes of 40, 50, 70 and 105 miles.
The event climaxed in the shape of the Stockton Grand Prix, part of the British Cycling HSBC UK Grand Prix Series.
More than 100 riders left the riverside start in glorious sunshine for a 100-mile plus course that took in local villages before coming back into town for six thrilling laps to the line.
While the riders were battling it out in the countryside, hundreds of spectators were kept entertained with a whole host of cycling related attractions, including the Ride Stockton event which allowed families to ride on the closed circuit at their leisure.
