A TOWN train station will hold an open day which organisers promise will be a fun day out for all ages next month.

The annual Bishop Auckland Railway Station community event will be held on Saturday, August 12, from 10am to 4pm.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘your community, your station’ and groups invited to take part include Bishop Trains, Stockton & Darlington Railway Youth Team, Weardale Railway Trust, Northumbria Blood Bikes, Durham police, St John Ambulance and the Royal British Legion.

There will be stalls selling handcrafted goods such as cakes and clothing, community stands, a bouncy castle and an ice cream van.

Activities include vintage bus town tours, a model railway display and information stand by the railway youth team which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Bishop Trains will showcase recent improvements at the station and the regular train service.

There will also be information and the chance to win two tickets for Santa’s special train journey, the Festive Capital Express which will run to Edinburgh from the town in November.

This event has been organised by Bishop Trains.
