A MAN killed by a train near Darlington station has been named.
Stephen Craggs from Marina Road, Darlington, died when he was struck on the line near Brafferton at around 3.30pm on Friday, July 7.
An inquest into the 30-year-old’s death was opened by County Durham and Darlington Senior Coroner Andrew Tweddle, sitting at Crook, on Friday morning.
Coroner’s officer PC Jacqueline Sirrell said inquiries by the British Transport Police and Durham police are ongoing. BTP have previously said it was not being treated as suspicious.
She confirmed that pathologist Dr Tony Senadhira said Mr Craggs’ injuries were consistent with a train accident.
The inquest was adjourned until September 4 to allow inquiries to continue.
