A NURSING home manager from Catterick Garrison has been awarded for her work in supporting older people living with dementia at a national awards ceremony.
Ruth Sunter, manager of Rosedale Care Home, took home the "Dementia Champion" award at the 2017 Maria Mallaband and Countrywide Care Awards.
The awards, now in their third year, recognise exceptional practice from staff who are committed to improving the lives of people living in residential care.
The prestigious Dementia Champion title is awarded to an individual who excels in the care and understanding of those living with dementia.
Judges were impressed with the innovations and continual developments to Rosedale’s care services under Ms Sunter’s leadership including regular Dementia Friends talks at the home, increasing staff training on dementia awareness, and adding and adapting features to make the home environment more dementia-friendly.
