AN exhibition of Biblical proportions will open in Darlington soon.

The history of the world’s most famous book will be explored as part of the A to Z of Bible History show.

A substantial collection of Bibles will be displayed at the Friends Meeting House from Monday, July 10 until Saturday, July 15.

Among the artefacts to be exhibited are a facsimile Gutenberg Bible and a Hebrew scroll.

Organiser David Coleman said: “People were burned at the stake just so we could have a chance of reading this book.

“People often think that the Bible is just a mouldy old book but it’s historically accurate and very relevant to our lives today.”

Mr Coleman added: “The exhibition has been to all parts of the UK and Ireland and a replica is in use in the USA and Canada.

“It has recently been rebuilt but its message, like that of the Bible, has not changed.”

It can be seen at the Skinnergate venue between 10.30am and 5.30pm from July 10 to July 14 and from 10.30am until 3.30pm on July 15.
