Fire engine and vintage vehicle show, Preston Park Museum, Eaglescliffe, on this weekend 

Enjoy a fun filled day out for all the family, with an impressive range of over 300 vehicles of all types on display - including the largest number of fire appliances in one place.

There's a daily programme of entertainment over the weekend with appearances by Swamp Thing 4x4 Monster Truck and The Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team - The White Helmets, along with live motoring displays and performances to entertain the crowds. 

Make sure you visit our market area, packed full of craft and food stalls, and treat the kids with a number of fairground rides and family fun activities including face painting, trampolines and bouncy castles.

Sion Hill Hall garden open to the public, Kirby Wiske, nr Thirsk, on Saturday, 11-4.30pm

The extensive five acre gardens surround an arts and crafts neo-Georgian house built in 1913, designed by Walter Brierley, York (house not open).

The grounds have been designed and restored by Michael Mallaby, to include a formal parterre with Baroque statuary, clipped box and hornbeam, a Long Walk with yews, shrubs and herbaceous planting, a traditional Kitchen garden, and Centenary rose garden. Homemade refreshments and stalls.

Durham Castle goes Medieval, on Sunday, 11-2pm 

Enjoy a free Medieval-themed family day at Durham Castle. Castle Community Action (CCA) and Durham Castle Museum have teamed together to offer you a unique experience.

Take a step back in time to the Medieval period. Immerse yourself in the courtyard with activities inspired by the Medieval period and even see some real medieval objects. 

Whilst the Great Hall will be transformed into a royal banquet area complete with crafts and story telling, so bring a picnic fit for royalty. Activities available will include: bouncy castle, story telling of heroes and monsters, object handling (real medieval objects), craft activities, face-painting, scavenger hunt, family fun tours of the Castle.

Midsummer exhibition, The Station, Richmond, runs until July 12
Artwave North is a collective of 13 artists from Darlington, bringing their latest exhibition to The Station. Their varied interests are reflected in the range of work displayed - painting and drawing, ceramics, 2D models and work in coloured ink and pencil.

This group of artists has previously exhibited at The Station, Bowlees, Ulnaby, The Botanical Gardens in Durham, the Artisanne Gallery and The Bridge Centre for Visual Arts; both in Darlington.
