TIME will no longer stand still at a cricket ground, following a weekend presentation by one of the home club’s keen supporters.
A new clock is being handed to Durham City Cricket Club president Ray Pallister to mount on the pavilion recently named in his honour at the Green Lane ground, prior to the first team’s Durham League fixture against Castle Eden.
It is to replace the clock which stood on the clubhouse since it was erected in the 1950s.
Having stopped working some time ago, it was sent for repair to Durham City Watches, at the city’s indoor market.
But it was deemed beyond redemption and so a new clock, similar to the original, is being presented to the club by former player Colin Wilkes, in his role as managing director of the Durham Markets’ Company.
