A MAN has appeared in court after police found hundreds of cannabis plants and expensive growing equipment in his home.

Dung Van Voe, of Redworth Road, Shildon, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 19, charged with one count of producing of a class B drug.

Shildon neighbourhood policing team searched a house on Friday, June 16, and recovered 330 mature cannabis plants along with a quantity of expensive equipment.

Sergeant Andy Boyd, from Shildon Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “This seizure goes to show how effective the police can be when supported by the community.

“We are extremely grateful for all the support we get from the residents of Shildon when tackling a wide range of local issues and would encourage them to contact us with any concerns and information.”

Mr Van Voe was remanded in custody and will appear at Durham Crown Court on Tuesday, July 18.
