A CONTEMPORARY art festival is being held next month.
The event, throughout July, at Consett YMCA, is aiming to provide space for talent on a local and national scale.
Conny Art Festival is organised by two local undergraduates Elaine Robertson, who goes to Oxford University and Ellen Ranson, who is at Northumbria University.
One of the aims is to create an ‘intergenerational conversation about Consett and the wider North-East’s identity, putting emphasis on the present and future, as well as celebrating and remembering the past’.
Ms Ranson said: “Our intention with the art festival is to showcase Consett as a place for artistic interest, bringing together both the local and artistic communities of the North-East and further afield and exhibit the diversity of contemporary art scene.
“The unique functionality of the space makes it a great fit to house these various artworks. The work shown ranges from painting to sculpture, film, printmaking and workshops, with more than 30 artists ranging from students, to more established artists.”
