WATER polo players from the North-East have secured a silver medal at a national contest.
Younger members of Sedgefield Water Polo Club picked up the medal at the Sheffield Development Competition earlier this month.
At Sheffield Ponds Forge the team earned victories over Rotherham, Huddersfield, Sheffield Sharks before a narrow defeat to NW Fusion.
In the next tournThe team went onto draw with NW Fusion and defeat Leeds but finally came up short against Sheffield Stingrays.
The medal decider against Sheffield Stingrays proved to be a round too far with an eventual defeat of 0-8.
Vicky Alderson, club secretary, said: "I’d just like to say that I think this was an excellent achievement from our young team who are learning from the recent national and international successes seen recently from our older players.
“Well done to all players and thanks to the coaches for their help and guidance.”
