ONE of the region’s best-loved historic landmarks is to hold a free medieval-themed family day.
On Sunday, Durham Castle will be transformed with medieval decorations and will offer visitors the chance to take part in a number of Medieval-themed activities.
There will be craft activities in the 13th Century Great Hall and The Fellows Garden, once the site of the Castle moat, will be the venue for a bouncy castle.
Storytellers will share classic stories of heroes and monsters and mini-tours will reveal the castle’s spine-tingling history.
The event, organised by the student-run Castle Community Action (CCA) and Durham Castle Tours, will also include face-painting and a scavenger hunt.
Eleanor Gleeson, Community Day Officer for the CCA, said: “Durham Castle goes Medieval will provide a great opportunity for families to bring a picnic and explore Durham Castle on an enjoyable visit”.
Places are limited and need to be booked in advance. For full details, please visit durham.ac.uk/durham.castle/whatson
