A NSPCC Schools Service volunteer who has been delivering Speak Out Stay Safe assemblies and workshops in the Tees Valley area for the past four years is urging other people to give it a go

Margaret Anderson, a former Business Development Manager, spotted an article in The Northern Echo which initially sparked her interest in volunteering for the charity.

She said: “I had been looking to find something volunteering wise that would use my skills rather than just anything, as I had lots of presentation experience I lapped up the learning materials.”

The 67-year-old found the prospect of an audience made up entirely of children rather than adults daunting at first but she added: “You never know what they are going to say, that is part of the interest, every time is so fresh. I can’t imagine anyone not getting hooked on the responses of the children.”
