FATHERS will be spoilt for choice if they visit a historic railway station this weekend.
Weardale Railway Heritage Services is bringing back its popular Driver for a Fiver event on Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day.
Visitors to Stanhope Station in County Durham will get the chance to drive a Sentinel Shunter under supervision along platform two.
And tomorrow and Sunday, members Durham Amateur Football Trust will be manning a display stand for those interested in the glory days of amateur football in the 1950s.
The stand will feature a selection of photograph of the Crook and Bishop Auckland teams, along with memorabilia such as shirts and footballs.
The Driver for a Fiver operating sessions are 10.40am to 11.55am, 12.15pm to 12.50pm, 1.10pm to 2.25pm and 3.10pm to 4.20pm.
Tickets are available from the ticket inspector at Stanhope Station on the day or can be reserved by contacting marketing@weardale-railway.org.uk or 07719-757755.
