SUPER fit charity supporters were rewarded with coffee and cake after being put through their paces with back-to-back exercises classes.

Fitness instructor Alison Corr held Metafit and Metapwr sessions at Auckland Youth and Community Centre, in Bishop Auckland, on Sunday morning in aid of the North East Autism Society (NEAS).

They were followed by a coffee morning at the venue, which together raised £760 for the charity.

Miss Corr, 49, of Dene Hall Drive, in Bishop Auckland, wanted to support the charity to say thanks from her and partner Steven Wadge.

The couple’s 21-year-old daughter Ashleigh Wadge has autism and uses adult respite services provided by NEAS at two lodges in Lanchester once a fortnight. The charity wants to build five more lodges to expand the service.

Miss Corr said: “NEAS is brilliant, Ashleigh gets to spend time with well trained staff who have the time and energy to do activities she wants. It is also really helpful to us to know she is safe and happy while we find time for ourselves, sometimes I just put on my pyjamas and relax and sometimes we go out for a meal.”

Miss Corr will also do a sponsored run next month for the charity.
