A TEAM of cyclists will be pulling on their Lycra as they set off on charity bike ride.

The Rotary Club of Darlington is tackling the 172 mile Coast and Castles North challenge at the weekend.

With an average age of 64, the 12 cyclists are setting off from Aberdeen and finishing in Edinburgh on Friday morning.

The three-day challenge will see the team stopping overnight in Montrose and Glenrothies as they make their way from one end of Scotland to the other.

Rotarian Nigel Little said: “It has been decided that the money raised will go towards funding to support Darlington Rotary Local and International Charities and Projects.

“In the past 12 months Darlington Rotary Club Charitable Donations have exceeded £35,000.”

This will be their group’s 5th annual ride and to date they have cycled 815 miles on four rides and raised more than £33,000 for charitable organisations, including St Teresa’s Hospice.
