TWO brass bands are teaming up to make a special appearance when a popular open air night show returns for a second season.

The Spennymoor and Ferryhill brass colliery bands will perform at Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, in Bishop Auckland, for the opening performance on Saturday, July 1.

The bands have already joined forces with Eleven Arches, which runs the show, to make a special recording of the commemorative tune Gresford, also known as The Miners’ Hymn, captured in Durham Cathedral.

Visitors to the opening show will be entertained with a range of classic tunes as they head to take their seats.

Anne-Isabelle Daulon, chief executive of Eleven Arches said: “We are delighted that both Spennymoor and Ferryhill colliery bands will join us to welcome our audience at the première of our second season.

“The addition of evocative live music from two of the North-East’s best community brass bands will not only help us to celebrate our opening night but will truly cement Kynren as a celebration of the spirit of the North-East, whilst adding another exclusive treat to mark the beginning of a magical second season.”

Eleven Arches has added extra fireworks and free goodie bags for this season to help guests get in the carnival atmosphere.
