A SERVICE that supports older people to remain in their homes has nearly doubled the size of its Darlington headquarters due to increasing demand.

Home Instead Senior Care has expanded into a larger office at its Lingfield Point base to accommodate new administration staff.

The company, based within Lingfield House, provides personal care and home help services to people in Darlington and Northallerton.

Diane Chandler, director of Home Instead Senior Care, Darlington and Northallerton, said: “Demand for our services is increasing so naturally we needed a larger space to accommodate more admin staff.

“We’ve been at Lingfield Point since starting-up in 2012 and I wanted to stay within the same building – so I’m really pleased with our new offices.

“The Lingfield Point team is brilliant, they’ve always been really supportive. I can certainly always rely on Ted the concierge when we need his help.”

Speaking about how she got involved with the service, Ms Chandler said: “I discovered just how difficult it can be to find high quality home care.

“This was when my husband’s mum needed extra support to stay in her own home and maintain her independence and dignity.

“Although most care workers were compassionate and supportive, she and her daughter - her sole carer - were also victims of missed calls, changing carers and 15 minute task orientated visits, all of which they found very upsetting.”

Eddie Humphries, estate manager at Lingfield Point, said: “Home Instead Senior Care provides a really valuable service in Darlington and beyond, so we’re proud to give it a home.

“Lingfield Point is an excellent base for business, the location allows great access to road and rail links which means companies can quickly reach their clients across the region.”

The Darlington branch of Home Instead Senior Care recently held a 1980s themed evening at Gainford Village Hall, near Darlington, raising more than £470 for charity.

Lingfield Point is home to a number of businesses, including outsourcing company Capita, which employs hundreds of workers at the base.

However last month, The Northern Echo revealed Turtle Beach, which designs headsets for console makers including Sony and Nintendo, is moving from the park.
