A MAN injured by a car in a hit-and-run incident near his home has died.
Gary Wood, 42, was injured on Seaham Road, in Houghton-le-Spring, at 9.40pm on Friday, June 2.
Police confirmed Mr Wood, who lived on Seaham Road has since died from his injuries.
Liam Carr, 19, from Langdon Road, Newcastle, has been charged with death by dangerous driving, fail to stop at an accident and perverting the course of justice.
Gareth Bainbridge, 38, of School Road, Houghton, has been charged with assisting an offender.
Both men appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court and have been remanded into custody.
No pleas have been entered at this stage and they are due to appear before Newcastle Crown Court on July 6.
