A FOOTBALL team has won the the North East College League Cup championship for the third time in a row.
The men’s football development centre at New College Durham beat Newcastle College 3-2 in the final, which was held at Rutherford FC Gateshead.
The development centre, in partnership with Newcastle United Football Club, has been established at the college for more than ten years and allows students to combine their academic studies with professional training from fully qualified coaches.
Steve Bell, from New College, said: “I am so delighted with the team’s success. The students train alongside their studies, and it is great to see their commitment, hard work and sheer determination to succeed, on and off the field, rewarded.
“They have developed into a fine footballing team and rightfully earned the cup.”
