BORIS Johnson is set to warn North-East residents that Brexit is at risk if Jeremy Corbyn becomes Prime Minister.

The Foreign Secretary, who is scheduled to visit County Durham today, will say the Labour leader and his negotiating team would arrive in Brussels "like a family of herbivores at the watering hole of the lions - they would be eaten for breakfast", by EU leaders.

And he will urge voters to back Theresa May and the Conservatives in Thursday’s General Election – saying: “There is only one party at this election – and only one potential Prime Minister – that is willing to stick up for the democratic will of the British people.”

Mr Johnson played a leading role in the Leave campaign during last year’s Brexit referendum.

And he will warn that the choice of millions of people across the North of England to leave the EU could be reversed if Jeremy Corbyn makes it to Downing Street, propped up by the pro-EU Liberal Democrats and Scottish National Party.

The Foreign Secretary will argue they will not fight for Britain in the Brexit negotiations which begin just 11 days after polling day.

Theresa May only needs to lose six seats to lose her majority – putting Jeremy Corbyn in Number 10 and in charge of Brexit.

Mr Johnson say: “There are plenty of people who secretly think they can turn this thing round, and they have plenty of reasons to think they might be able to do so. They have done it before.

“We all know that Corbyn could not possibly govern by himself. He would be forced to go into a coalition with the Scots Nats and the Liberals.

“His position would dissolve into a puddle of incoherence and Brexit would founder.”
