TWO people were rescued from a house fire last night.
The fire is believed to have started at some point between 6pm and 6.25pm on Sunday at a property on the High Street, West Cornforth, near Ferryhill whilst the occupants were inside.
They were rescued by County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and were treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire brigade sent four appliances to tackle the blaze.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Acting Detective Sergeant Gareth Hodgson at Bishop Auckland CID on 101.
