A GIANT animatronic dragon will be joined by wizards, Daleks and a star of Dr Who as a highly-anticipated event in the sci-fi calendar returns to the North-East.

Specialist traders selling toys, memorabilia and collectables from all corners of the sci-fi universe will join fantasy fans for the fourth-annual Kapow market.

The trade opportunity will also offer a chance for Game of Thrones enthusiasts to get up close to a 3.5 metre-high animatronic dragon that will descend on Stockton accompanied by a Daenerys Targaryen lookalike.

The event on Saturday, June 10, will also include a question and answer session with actress Katy Manning who is best known for playing Jo Grant as a companion to Jon Pertwee’s Dr Who in the 1970s.

The specialist sci-fi market was originally organised by the owners of the Who Ray! Gift shop on Silver Street, in Stockton, and is no run by Stockton Borough Council and Stockton Business Improvement District (BID).

Karen Hindhaugh, manager of Stockton BID, said: “We’ve got an amazing programme lined up.

“There are lots of activities for people of all ages and for anyone who is a fan of science fiction, magic or who just likes to have lots of family fun.”

Workshops and displays will also feature as part of the market, include a Harry Potter-themed magic show and a bird of prey display.

Kapow will run from 10am until 4pm on Stockton High Street and is free to attend.
