A CAMPAIGN to raise the profile of female coaches, leaders and volunteers in sport is set be launched across the North-East in an initiative to get more women involved in teaching.
The Pass on Your Passion movement includes 20 women already in the field being selected by Tees Valley Sport to choose another woman each who they think would make a sporting coach.
A baton will also tour the region from Monday, June 5, from Redcar, before being taken to Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Darlington, on Friday, June 9.
A handover from Tees Valley Sport to County Durham Sport will be completed by a running group who will put the baton in a boat on Saturday, June 10, at Tees Barrage.
A Tees Valley Sport spokeswoman said: “Pass On Your Passion is the opportunity to thank our amazing female coaches, leaders and volunteers for passing on their passion of sport and physical activity to inspire and motivate people of all ages and all abilities to get active and also take their first steps on their coaching journey.”
