WORK has started on a £1.8 million housing development
Landlord Karbon Homes is building 17 family homes on three neighbouring sites in the South Pelaw area of Chester-le-Street previously used as garages.
The new homes, which will be available for rent, are part of plans by Karbon Homes to build 2,500 properties over the next four years.
Zoey Hawthorne, Assistant Director of Development and Property at Karbon Homes, said: “It’s great to get started on this new project, as we know there is strong demand for this type of property in the Chester-le-Street area.
“The delivery of these high quality affordable rented homes will help improve the quality of environment of the neighbourhood by enabling under utilised garages and land to be brought back into effective use to provide 17 new family homes that will offer a greater choice for customers wishing to live within South Pelaw.”
Karbon Homes has recently built 37 homes in Pelton with 22 in Chester-le-Street and 19 in Nettlesworth under construction.
