SLIMMERS at Leyburn and Richmond are donating clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of to a cancer charity.

A two-week long event, “The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw” runs at groups across the UK from June 5 to 18. Members confident enough to know they’ll never need their ‘before’ clothes again are being invited to donate them along with any shoes, bags and accessories to Cancer Research UK.

Last year’s Clothes Throw raised £2.1m and this year aims to raise £3m.

Richmond’s Slimming World consultant Charis Blease, said; “Lots of people don’t know that keeping a healthy weight helps reduce the risk of developing some types of cancer.”

Leyburn’s group members can’t wait to celebrate their weight loss with the charity event. Consultant Annette Wing explained: “We’ve all been putting bits aside for a couple of weeks now, clothes that no longer fit, belts we’ve grown too small for, even shoes that seem to be a bit too roomy now.”
