DETECTIVES investigating historic sex abuse in sport have charged a second man.
Officers from Operation Tide, the investigation set up by Northumbria Police into non-recent child sexual abuse in the sporting community, say they have charged 69-year-old John Marshall with eight offences of indecent assault alleged to have been committed between 1980 and 1982.
Mr Marshall, of Elmsford Grove, in Longbenton is due to appear at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 14.
Earlier this month, officers from Operation Tide charged former Newcastle United youth coach George Ormond with 29 counts of sex offences, alleged to have been committed between 1973 and 1998.
Now aged 61 and living in Newton Abbot, Devon, he will appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 9.
