MEMBERS of staff at a Durham school, including the head teacher, have teamed up to take part in a fun walking and running event in aid of St Cuthbert’s Hospice.

Eleven people from St Hild’s College CofE Primary School, Gilesgate, will join Colourama around Aykley Heads, on Saturday, June 17. They will start in pristine white hospice t-shirts but an army of volunteer paint throwers will ensure they do not stay that way. The route includes an aqua slide, ‘space hopper sprint’ and obstacles.

Head teacher Alex Ryder said: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by a terminal or life-limiting illness, and the work St Cuthbert’s Hospice do in our community is invaluable.”

Deputy head teacher Alison Luke added:: “We are always proud to support St Cuthbert’s Hospice as a school, but this year we decided to do things differently. “The staff are delighted to be taking part in the Colourama Run and we are really pleased to be involved in supporting the hospice.”

St Cuthbert’s events fundraiser Jade McArdle said: “We’re so grateful to the staff at St Hild’s for signing up to take on Colourama.”

Registration costs £22 for adults and £17 for children 15 and under, with children under five free. Visit www.stcuthbertshospice.com or contact 0191-386 1170 extension 5.
