A SCHOOL is celebrating after being rated as outstanding by school inspectors.

A Statutory Inspectors of Anglican Schools (SIAMS) report following a visit to the Easington Church of England Primary School, in Easington, said it was outstanding in every area - an improvement on the previous good rating in April 2012.

Inspectors said the distinctive Christian character met the needs of all learners, while the the impact of collective worship on the school community was outstanding too.

The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school was also exemplary.

Head teacher Andrea Swift said: “Our inspector spoke with children, parents, staff and governors and shared in an act of worship.

“The inspector also spent time in classrooms during Family Friday and outside with our children at lunchtime and examined our extensive evidence which supported our self- evaluation.

“The inspector also praised our children on their excellent behaviour and, after speaking with them about our school, commented that our children are amazing – a credit to parents and families.”

Ms Swift added: “The report reflects the huge amount of work that has taken place in the last five years to move the school forwards.

“The improvements that have taken place have only happened because of the support of parents, the support and drive of our governing body, the hard work of the children and the dedication and expertise of the staff.

“I am pleased that all the comments in the report pertaining to further improvement opportunities relate to areas that have already been recognised by our Leadership Team.”

She added: “I am incredibly proud of and overwhelmed by the outcome of this inspection.”
