A COUPLE seen on CCTV talking to a man who police suspect may have carried out a rape in Darlington are being urged to come forward.
Footage captured on security video from a business in Brunswick Street shows a couple walking down the street towards St Cuthbert's Way after the incident, which is said to have occurred just after 12am on Wednesday morning.
Police say a 38-year-old woman was subjected to a 'brutal' attack on a grassed embankment just off St Augustine's Way, which leads to the River Skerne running past the rear of Halford's.
A 21-year-old local man has been arrested and is being questioned by police.
Tonight, a spokeswoman for Durham Police said: "We would encourage all witnesses to come forward, including a couple seen talking to a man believed to be the suspect."
