A NEW style of hair salon will offer milkshakes, cartoons and colouring in alongside the traditional trims.
Bob and Lilly’s Hair Salon, which opens on Saturday, will be the first children’s hairdressers in Darlington.
It is the brainchild of hairdresser Melissa Nielsen, who wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere for youngsters.
She said: “We have created a really fun environment, with lots of bright colours and things to do while the children are waiting.
“Kids don’t have the same patience we do and sometimes they can find traditional salons intimidating as they’re full of grown-ups.
“They don’t have to get fed up here, they can colour in, run around or order a milkshake.”
The salon, based on West Auckland Road in Cockerton, will officially open on Saturday, May 13.
Once a month, it will open especially for children with special needs.
