GEORDIE music legends Lindisfarne are to play a one-off gig at a steam railway.

The band, best-known for hits such as Fog On The Tyne and Run For Home, are to perform at Tanfield Railway, near Stanley on May 20 at 7pm as part of the national Museums At Night scheme.

They will be joined on stage by The Lake Poets.

The show takes place at Marley Hill Carriage Shed, venue for the railway’s regular Music At Marley Hill sessions.

Lindisfarne guitarist Rod Clements said: "Lindisfarne are proud to be part of the North-East's cultural heritage and the band are really looking forward to playing in the unique environment of Music At Marley Hill.

“It's an exciting initiative that brings together the past, present and future of all that's best in our region."

Tanfield Railway director David Watchman said: "Lindisfarne are almost as much a part of the North-East's heritage as George Stephenson and generations of industrial prowess.

“We're overjoyed to be able to bring them to the railway, we expect it will be a powerful, and poignant, event."

Tickets are £25 and are only available in advance online through tanfield-railway.co.uk.
