VOLUNTEERS are sought for a project that aims to help people lead healthier and happier lives.

County Durham’s Wellbeing for Life scheme encourages people to address factors that influence their health, while building their capacity to be resilient and independent.

Free support is offered in a range of areas including cookery, weight loss, help to stop smoking, cancer awareness and exercise.

The community-based approach is focused on the individual and looks at physical and mental health.

Volunteers are particularly needed in the Weardale area to help run groups and activities.

Those with an interest or experience in physical activity or health improvement are encouraged to get in touch.

Wellbeing for Life currently has 300 volunteers across the county who help people take their first steps toward a healthier and happier life.
