A VILLAGE is to host its first music festival to raise money for a local animal charity.
The first Coxhoe Festival is to take place in the village near Durham on Saturday, June 17.
The festival, being held at the Active Life Leisure Centre, will raise funds for Stray Aid.
Promoters have organised an eight-hour show featuring original and cover bands playing a range of styles including ska, folk and rock.
Music starts at 4pm with three acoustic acts, followed by national bands including Ramble Gamble, Leeds-based Jake and the Jellyfish, followed by a performance by headliners punk-folk act Driven Serious.
Organisers say the event, which runs until midnight, will be weather-proof as it will be staged in a marquee inside the main sports hall.
Alongside the on-stage music there will be a bar, craft stalls and a hog roast alongside vegetarian cuisine and entertainment.
Tickets are £15, or £5 for concessions. Tickets are available from Active Life Coxhoe, drivenserious.com or the Coxhoe Festival Facebook page.
