A FORMER grocery shop could become a hot food takeaway if plans are approved.
Yorkshire Business Management is seeking a hot food takeaway licence from Durham County Council for a vacant retail unit on High Street in Willington.
In documents submitted with the application, the applicant said the takeaway would create three full time and two part time jobs, and help boost the economy of the town. Opening hours would be 3pm to 10pm daily.
The applicant said a recycling and waste management company would be commissioned to remove cardboard, plastic and other waste, and an odour control system would be implemented.
Security cameras would also be considered for safety and to prevent people congregating outside the business.
