NORTHALLERTON Rugby Club hosted its annual dinner dance and presentation at the end of April.

A total of 120 players, partners, members and guests attended.

The club was also celebrating its 135-year anniversary and a special award was presented to their oldest current first team player, 53-year-old Paul Dixon.

Martin Connor hosted a charity raffle and auction, raising £1,100 for Yorkshire Cancer Research. Tom Whorlton won the £100 in the raffle and graciously donated this back to the charity total.

First team player of the year was awarded to player/coach James Hopkin, despite only playing half the season due to injury. First team young player of year went to Mathew Marsay, who had an outstanding season.

Second team player of the year went to consistent Ian Cockings, while second team young player of the year went to newcomer Olly Faller-Raw.

The Balfour Trophy for voluntary club work went to photographer Dave Morgan.

Thanks went to Jackie Marwood for providing an excellent three-course meal, including a table carvery.

Northallerton rugby club will be holding its AGM on Wednesday, May 10. All members are asked to attend to vote on forthcoming decisions regarding on and off field activities.
