A MAN who was found dead in his home had overdosed on drugs an inquest heard.
Toxicology tests carried out on Glen Reed after his death on January 11 revealed a high level of Fentanyl, a similar drug to heroin which is prescribed to treat severe pain.
An inquest at Crook Coroners’ Court today (Tuesday) heard Mr Reed, of Sedgefield, County Durham, had a history of drug and alcohol misuse.
PC Lee Blaney, of Durham Police, said Mr Reed, 28, regularly received parcels in the post and had made payments to someone in Luxembourg, suggesting he bought the drug online.
Dr Leslie Hamilton, assistant coroner for County Durham, concluded Mr Reed’s death was due to drugs, adding: “There is nothing to suggest he intended to take his own life. He perhaps didn’t realise the dangers.”
